Members of the Rotary Club of Broomfield Crossing have been busy as they plan their annual Christmas bash for children and senior citizens in our Broomfield Community.  Santa will take a special break from toy making with the elves at his North Pole facility to help the Rotarians get an early start on the Christmas celebration.

Rotarians recently gathered at the home of Pete and Carolyn Crouse on Friday, November 22nd to stuff bags with candy and toys. At the party, Broomfield Crossing Rotary President Mike Daniels also inducted three new members into the Rotary Club to join its growing ranks and to help with these volunteer efforts. The festivities will commence the week of December 2nd starting on Wednesday morning the 4th with a visit to the La Petite Academy where Santa will distribute 50 goody bags to happy children. Next, Santa will visit the Salvation Army at 1080 Birch Street in Broomfield where 60 children will meet him and receive their bags of goodies.

Thursday, Santa and the Rotarians will visit 90 students at Gateway Academy in the morning and will end the day teaming up with Health and Human Services to decorate the Lakeshore room at the Broomfield Senior Center. Each child will visit with Santa before receiving a goody bag including a $25 gift certificate. After filling their tummies with Pizza, the evening will end with the Jane Spain Dancers entertaining the children. In past years, the children have enjoyed participating in the dances.

Friday will be the last day Santa is available to help the Rotarians before being escorted back to the North Pole by Rudolph and the Reindeer to finish up preparations for the big day coming up on December 25th.
Friday morning they will visit the Broomfield Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where each senior will receive a stuffed white Christmas bear. The Rotarians will sing Christmas carols to brighten everyone’s day. Our Santa week visits will end with a visit to F.R.I.E.N.D.S. where we will meet Gina Coufal and all her colleagues.  Gina makes sure there is never a dull moment at F.R.I.E.N.D.S.  They will give Santa a special send off, and then snuggle in their beds that evening, dreaming of more fun for next year’s party!

A big “Thank You” to Hammond’s Candies for the donation of their signature candy canes, and Gerry Clark for donating his time and effort to make 275 small wooden cars. Both have been a key contribution to each sack of goodies.
